Artwork story:
One Universe explores ideas involving the Anthropocene - the new geological epoch we have
entered into, characterised by human influence and its impact on the environment. I am fascinated in the ways that artwork can remind us of our immense interconnectivity with our earth, with each other, with our whole universe. This contrasts with typical imagery of the Anthropocene - of melting icebergs and overflowing landfills. Not that these images aren’t important and powerful - but we are
increasingly desensitised to this media and can feel a sense of denial or helplessness. In this painting I seek to show the unity between humans and the bigger picture of which we are apart of - in an immersive, positive, constructive manner.

One Universe is a Limited Edition Giclee print, photograhed from a 10 foot (3 metre) mural that I painted in the 5 days leading up to my First Solo Exhibition (Potocki Paterson Art Gallery, Wellington, New Zealand). This mural was 60 hours of meditation, contemplation and enquiry as I painted each day between 2pm-2am. One Universe starts as a contemporary exploration of the mandala, exploding outwards into an infinate, free-flowing, fractal-inspired, atmospheric experience.
